Question 1049549: I have an issue with word problems. I am not sure if what i did is correct. here's the math problem:
Today, there are 3,537 thousand elementary and secondary teachers employed. this number is expected to increase to 3,898 thousand by the next decade. what is the percent increase?
my answer: step 1 - 3898 - 3537 = 361
subtract the current number from the expected number.

step 2 - 361 divided by 3357 = 0.102 and multiply by 100
take the difference and subtract from the current number then x 100
step 3 - is where i got lost because the numbers just didn't look right.
