Question 1033307: An item had a decrease of 25% to restore its original price. What percent of the discounted price should be added?
Answer by fractalier(6550)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
For problems like this, use $100.
If it has a decrease of 25%, its new price is $75.
Then ask, "By what percent do I need to increase $75 to make $100?"
You can see that $25 needs to be added, but that is 1/3 of $75, or 33 1/3%.
