If A invests 40% of his money and B invests 45% of his money,
Let A have $x
and B have $y
the total investment will be $215,000.
40%x+45%y=215000
multiply by 100
40x+45y=21500000....................(1)
 If A invests 45% of his money and B invests 40% of his money then the total investment will be $210,000.
45%x+40%y =210000
multiply by 100
45x+40y = 21000000................(2)
40x+45y=21500000....................(1)
45x+40y = 21000000................(2)
add the equations
85x+85y= 42500000
/95
x+y = 500,000................(4)
40x+45y=21500000....................(1)
45x+40y = 21000000................(2)
subtract (2) from (1)
-5x+5y=-500000
/-5
x-y = 100000.................(5)
add (4) & (5)
2x= 600000
x= 300,000
y=200,000
These are available for investment
