Not sure what you mean with the "2 oz", but strictly as written, that is 2 of (1/16) of a pound, so you are indicating MASS, or "pounds", but not volume. But whatever you mean, keeping in the same units, we can do this:

From the pie chart we can see that 20% of students signed up for Italian.
Therefore 36 is 20% of the total.
20% is the same as one fifth so 1/5 of the total is 36.
Hence the total is 5 x 36 = 180
