Question 159630: An Bike didn't sale for the original price it was then discounted 50% and still didn't sale so it was discounted another 25%. The bike finally sold for 180.00 which was 4/5 of the original price. what is the original price? Answer by checkley77(12844) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 2 discounts of 50% * 25% does not = 4/5.
.5*.75=.375
(x-.5x)(1-.25)=180
.5x*.75=180
.375x=180
x=180/.375
x=480
Proof:
480*.5=240(1-.25)=240*.75=180
