When you are given an equation a^b = c and asked to 'express it in logarithmic form', what they want you to write is log( a, c ) = b. Why? Because if you take a^b = c and take logarithm, by a, of both sides, you would get log( a, (a^b) ) = log( a, c ). Because, by definition of logarithm, log( a, (a^b) ) is b, we get: b = log( a, c ) or, switching sides, log( a, c ) = b
