When x appears both in and outside of a trancendental function,
in the same equation, as it does here, there is no algebraic way
of solving it. You can only get an approximate answer by a
calculator, or iterative means.

With a TI-84 the two solutions are approximately

0.44754216 and -1.980974. Do you need calculator help? Or are
you studying solving by iteration, something like Newton's
approximation method?

Solve the equation
e^(2x)=x+2
----------------
You can use graphical methods.
dl the FREE graph software at
http://www.padowan.dk
---
Use Ins
e^(2x) - x - 2
===========
The graph software is useful for a lot of things.
(I like to see people DL it because I get 15% of the price as a sales rep.)
