For example, log 5270 = 3.72181; the mantissa is 0.72181 and the characteristic is 3.

Here you have to find out the value of log 20

Its a two digit number.

Its charecterisitc is 2-1 (that is number of digits minus one)

So charecteristic is 1

Now for mantissa, with the help of logarithm table you can find out the value
