x-2 = 12962x

Write 1296 as 362
Write  as 36-1

(36-1)x-2 = (362)2x

Remove the parentheses by multiplying the exponents:

36-x+2 = 364x

Since the base 36 is positive and not 1, we may drop the
36's and set their exponents equal to each other:

-x+2 = 4x
 -5x = -2
   x = 
   x =
