Question 734910: I have a problem, and none of the answers offered appear to make sense to me.
The problem is State the solution to the equation: 5x = 17.

Answer by Edwin McCravy(20065)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5x = 17

That is equivalent to the equation

x = log517

and you can use the change of base formula to make it

either

x =

or

x =

or you can use a calculator and get

x = 1.760374428
