where 1 is less than x and less than y, is the answer positive or negative???
I think that I am supposed to sub in a number less than 1 in both x and y and see what the sign of the final answer is????? I hope you can help me and thank you!!!!

Somehow stange since
is always = 0
Also, use math notation instead of
"where 1 is less than x and less than y"
means 1 < x < y or (1 < x and 1 < y) ???
Note if 1 < x < y then < 1
