How do you evaluate this function at the value x = without using a calculator?
f(x) = log2(x)
Substitute  for x

f() = log2() = log2(2-1)

Then you need to know this property of logarithms: logB(BN) = N

So the whole thing is

f() = log2() = log2(2-1) = -1
