Start with the given equation

Condense the logs using the identity

Convert to exponential form.

Cube 4 to get 64

Multiply both sides by x

Subtract x from both sides

Combine like terms

Divide both sides by 63 to isolate x

Flip the equation.

So the solution is

log base 4 (x+1) - log base 4x=3
------
log4(x+1) - log4(x) = 3
----
log4[(x+1)/x] = 3
----
(x+1)/x = 4^3
-----
(x+1)/x = 64
---
x+1 = 64x
63x = 1
x = 1/63
