If I'm understanding you correctly you mean "log base 2 of 1000"
Put this into your calculator using the change of base formula. Usually the base is written about half the size of the other number, so the change of base would be:
log_a(b)=log(b)/lob(a)=ln(b)/ln(a) Either apply, log BIG number/log little number (BIG and little refer to size, not amount.)
log_2(1000)==9.96578=9.97
