Solve 7^a+4=115.If neccessary, round to the nearest hundredth
7^a=111
Take the log of both sides to get:
a(log7)=(log111)
a=(log111)/(log7)
a=2.42....

7^a + 4 = 115. If necessary, round to the nearest hundredth
:
7^a = 115 - 4
7^a = 111
:
Log equiv of exponents
a * log(7) = log(111)
:
a * (.8451) = 2.0453
:
a = 2.0453/.8451
:
a = 2.42 rounded
:
Check on a good calc: 7^2.42 = 110.9525, pretty close
