You can solve inequalities just like you solve equations, with a couple of exceptions: If you multiply or divide by a negative quantity, then you must reverse the order of the inequality sign (<, >, ...)
x + x - 12 > 0 Simplify.
2x - 12 > 0 Add 12 to both sides.
2x > 12 Divide by 2 (Since 2 positive, you don't reverse the order)
x > 6
Check the solution by choosing a value of x that is greater than 6 (x > 6).
