Use algebraic procedures to find the exact solution of the equation
log4x+log4(x-12)=3.

log4x+log4(x-12)=3
=log4(x(x-12))=3
convert to exponential form (base(4) raised to log of number(3)=number(x(x-12))
4^3=x(x-12)
64=x^2-12x
x^2-12x-64=0
(x-16)(x+4)=0
x=16
or
x=-4 (reject, 4x>0)

log4(16)+log4(16-12)
=log4(16)+log4(4)
=2+1=3
