Question 458771: solve for x:
log5x + log25x=2.5

Answer by lwsshak3(11628)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
solve for x:
log5x + log25x=2.5
..
log5x + log25x=2.5
place under single log
log(5x*25x)=2.5
log(125x^2)=2.5
convert to exponential form:(base(10) raised to log of number(2.5)=number(125x^2)
10^2.5=125x^2=316.2278
x^2=316.2278/125=2.5298
x=±√(2.5298)
x=1.59
or
x=-1.59 (reject, x>0)
Check:
log(5x)+log(25x)=.9004+1.59=2.49+
