Question 45133: I've been working on a problem but can't seem to find the solution to write as a single logarithm: 2 log 4 + log x - log 2.
My fisrt instict/ step was to: rearrange the problem to make it more clearer to work and went from there. I'm missing a step somewhere, any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
2 log 4 + log x - log 2
log 4^2 + log x - log 2
log 16 - log 2 + log x ?
log x = log 16 / log 2 ?
x = 8 ?

log+16+%2B+log+x+-+log+2
Now remember the following operations:
logA%2BlogB=log%28AB%29 and logA-logB=log%28A%2FB%29
So:
log+8+%2B+log+x
log+%288x%29
We cannot find the value of x because we have not benn shown what our simplified function is equal to. All we can do is simplify to a single logarithm.
