(1/2log base 5 of 16 -3log base 5 of X)+4log base 5 of Y -5(log base 5 of X squared -3log base 5 of X squared Y)
I think I have the next part right, but I have no clue.
[1/2(log16/log5)-3(logX/log5)]+4(logY/log5)-5[(logXsquared/log5)-3(logXsquaredY/log5)]

Logarithms with bases, like the ones in your problem are definitely difficult to post. Nevertheless you did a very good job with it. (In case you are curious about how I was able to get your expression to look like it does above, then click on the "Show Source" link just above this solution. The syntax you see can also be used when posting problems.)

Although you posted the expression well, you completely omitted what the problem is. What are you/we supposed to do with that expression? There should have been some kind of directions about what it is you are supposed to do.

If the instructions were to convert the logarithms from base 5 logarithms to base 10 logarithms then your "next step" is correct. And you would be done.

If the instructions are something else then re-post your question and include the instructions. (I suspect that the instructions are something like "Rewrite this expression as a single logarithm". But I am not going to provide a solution to a problem that may not be the problem you have.)
