Question 387156: logx + log(x+2)=log3 to the nearest hundred
Answer by scott8148(6628)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x(x+2) = 3 ___ x^2 + 2x - 3 = 0

factoring ___ (x + 3)(x - 1) = 0

x + 3 = 0 ___ x = -3 ___ this answer is not realistic because logs are not defined for negative numbers

x - 1 = 0 ___ x = 1
