Question 31938: I am having trouble graphing the function
y=3log(5)(x+4)
I hav eserached and searched for help on this. Some examples tell me to

change to an exponent and others say find Domain, Range, asymptotes and x and
y intercepts. I am so lost. If you can lead me or guide me I would geatly appreciate the assistance.
Thanks

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You have to know what the graph of y=logx looks like.
Do you see that it passes through the point (1,0)?
Then, the (x+4) in your equation moves the graph 4 units to
the left, so the graph passes through (-3,0)
then the "3" in your equation multiplies the y-values by "3".
The 3 has no effect on the point (-3,0) because y=3(0)=0
but all the other y-values are multiplid by 3.
The vertical asymptote is x=-4
The y-intercept is gotten by letting x=0
So the y-intercept is y=log(5)4=0.86...
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
stan H.
