Question 307918: evaluate log (base1/5) 0.2 = x
Answer by nyc_function(2741) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Your equation can be expressed (1/5)^x = 0.2 using rules of logs.
Take the natural log of both sides of the equation.
Let ln = natural log
ln(1/5)^x = ln(0.2)
(x/5)ln = ln(0.2)
x[ln(1/5)] = ln(0.2)
x = ln(0.2)/ln(1/5)
We now apply the calculator on the right side.
x = 1
