Write it using the log equiv of exponents

divide both sides by the log(6)
5(x+1) =
using a calc
5(x+1) = 6.425486
:
5x + 5 = 6.425486

5x = 6.425486 - 5
:
5x = 1.425486

Check on a calc: enter 5*log(6^(.2851+1)) = . 5.000
