Question 303956: log2 (x + 4) = 3 + log2 (x - 5)
Please help!!!!!! Thank you so much!!!!!!! You guys are the best!!!!!!!
Answer by nerdybill(7384) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
log2 (x + 4) = 3 + log2 (x - 5)
log2 (x + 4) - log2 (x - 5) = 3
log2 (x + 4)/(x - 5) = 3
(x + 4)/(x - 5) = 2^3
(x + 4)/(x - 5) = 8
(x + 4) = 8(x - 5)
x + 4 = 8x - 40
x + 44 = 8x
44 = 7x
44/7 = x
6.2857 = x
