not In...it is ln. Anyway...
(1/2)ln(x) - (3/2)ln(y) ---> you cannot solve it since you have not got an equation... no equals sign. All you can do is simplify it.
It all depends what you are trying to achieve, to be honest. My approach would be to leave the a (1/2) out of the 2 terms and then combine the 2 terms together, as follows:
