Could someone please help me with this?
Find the negative value of x such that 2^log4(1/64) + x^2 = (73/8).
Thanks!
need to do this a piece at a time
first evaluating log4 (1/64)
4^r = 1/64
r = -3
leaves:
2^(-3) + x^2 = 73/8
1/8 + x^2 = 73/8
x^2 = 72/8 = 36/4 = 18/2 = 9
x = 3 or x = -3
the negative value of x is -3
