The best thing, which I always remind myself, is
"logs are exponents"
The equation says: " 5 is the exponent which x is
raised to that gives me 1000, so I can rewrite the
equation as:
x%5E5+=+1000
Now I can take the log to the base 10 of both sides
log%28x%5E5%29+=+log%281000%29
5%2Alog%28x%29+=+3
log%28x%29+=+3%2F5
