The change of base formula is:

We will use this to change the base from 8.1 to a expression of logarithms of a base your calculator "knows", base 10 or base e (ln).

Either of these work and they will both give you the same answer. I'll leave it up to you to choose one and use your calculator on it. (Just be sure to find the two logarithms first and then divide.)
