If your calculator has a "ln" button, then use your calculator to find the square root of 42 and then find the ln of that.

If you have no "ln" button, then you will have to use the base conversion formula to change the ln (base e) logarithm into an expression of base 10 logarithms. The base conversion formula for logarithms is log%28a%2C+%28p%29%29+=+log%28b%2C+%28p%29%29%2Flog%28b%2C+%28q%29%29. Using this to change your base e logarithm into an expression of base 10 logarithms we get:

Now you can use your calculator to:
