Question 241480: please help me solve:
log base 5 (x^2+x+4)=2

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
log base 5 (x^2+x+4)=2
------------------
x^2+x+4 = 5^2
x^2 + x -21 = 0
x = [-1 +- sqrt(1 -4*-21)]/2
---
x = [-1 +sqrt(85)]/2 or x = [-1-sqrt(85)]/2
---------------------------------------------
