Question 224944: Driving down a mountain, George finds that he has descended 1800ft in elevation by the time he is 3.25 miles horizontally away from the top of the mountain. Find the slope of his descent to the nearest hundredth.
I am going to go out on a limb and try this one, please tell me if im on the right track.
y = 3.25x + 1800
Answer by RAY100(1637) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
slope = m = rise / run = change in y / change in x
.
m= (-1800)ft* (1 mi/5280 ft) / 3.25 mi = - 1800 / 5280 / 3.25 = - .1048 = - .10
.
