Question 189924: A company finds that its total sales in dollars, T(x), from the distribution of x thousand catalogues is approximated by T(x) = 5000log(x+1). Find the total sales resulting from the distribution of each number of catalogues.
(a) 5000 (b) 24,000 (c) 49,000
Is this just a case of plugging numbers in? I'm still a bit confused about the log function! Thanks for your help.
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A company finds that its total sales in dollars, T(x), from the distribution of x thousand catalogues is approximated by T(x) = 5000log(x+1). Find the total sales resulting from the distribution of each number of catalogues.
(a) 5000 (b) 24,000 (c) 49,000
--------------
a) T(5000) = 5000log(5000+1)
T(5000) = 5000*3.6991
T(5000) = 18495.2843...
----
Yes, just plug in the 24000 and then the 49000 and and use
your calculator.
