Question 136795: 7 = 2^(2x)
In this problem where 7 equals 2 raised to 2x, do both 2's cancel each other making the answer 7=X (??????) thanks for your help

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
7 = 2^(2x)
-------------
The answer to your question is no.
-----------------
Since the variable is in the exponent you need to take the log of both sides:
log7 = 2x*log2
2x = log7/log2
2x = 2.807355..
x = 1.40377...
