Answer by edjones(8007) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
log(6)36=(5x+3)
36=6^(5x+3)
6^2=6^(5x+3)
Since the base (6) is the same for all exponents we can make an equation of the exponents:
2=5x+3
5x=-1
x=-1/5
Check:
2=5*-1/5+3
2=-1+3 true

I have tried everything and I just don't understand this problem.
Here is the problem
=
-----------------------------
We use the definition of a logarithm:
which says this:
The equation logA = C
is equivalent to this equation
BC = A
That means that your equation:
=
is equivalent to and can be replaced by
the equation:
=
Now since 6×6=36, we can write 36 as 62/sup>
=
Now since the base 6 is positive and not equal to 1,
we can equate the exponents of 6 on both sides:
=
=
=
