Question 111215: I am trying to write each expression as a single logarithm this is the problem i am stuck on
ln(x+2)-7ln(x)+3ln(x+7)
Answer by MathLover1(20850) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Property 1.
ln(x^n) = nln(x)
For example
ln(105) = 5ln(10) or ln(x^7) = 7ln(x)
Property 2.
ln(x * y) = ln(x) + ln(y)
Property 3.
ln(x/y) = ln(x) - ln(y)
Property 4.
ln(ex) = x
Please be careful because
ln(x + y) is not = ln(x) + ln(y)
nor ln(x - y) is not = ln(x) - ln(y).
………..apply property on second and third term
……….. apply property on first and second term
……….. apply property on these two terms
