Question 1103697: I've had problems similar to this, but this problem was worded differently, and so I wasn't confident that I understood how to solve. "Use logarithms as required to perform the following operations. He came by writing each number as an exponential expression whose base is 10. Show your work." Would you mind to show me what process to use? Thank you!

There's no reason to use logs, it's just a fraction.

"Use logarithms as required to perform,..."

Are logarithms required for this?

Not unless you only have log tables available but no calculator and no slide rule. Also, logs required ONLY if the problem instructions tells you to use logarithms.

You could use logarithms, just for the two numbers of three significant figures each, separately from the part. Just for that, use , and then find ANTILOG of that result; and combine properly with your part.

Either way, you should get about .
