Answer by rothauserc(4718) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Use exponent definition of logarithms
:
1) x = y^3
:
2) 4x = y^5
:
substitute y^3 for x in equation 2), I used equation 1) for x value
:
4(y^3) = y^5
:
divide both sides of = by y^3
:
y^2 = 4
:
y = 2 or -2
x = 8 or -8
:

There are 2 solutions
:
x = 8, y = 2
:
x = -8, y = -2
