Question 1031763: What is the domain of each function?
the problem is : g(x)=ln(x-1)
i was absent when we covered this in my pre cal class and a step by step on how to answer this would be greatly appreciated. I think i am making it far more complicated than it is. Also, if you behave any tips on how to solve other problems like this that would be amazing as well, thank you!

The stuff inside the natural log cannot be 0 and it cannot be negative.

So the "x-1" must be positive. This means

x - 1 > 0

solve for x by adding 1 to both sides to get

x > 1

So if x > 1 then x-1 is some value that is positive (eg: x = 10 ---> x-1 = 9). So the domain of g(x) is x > 1

Final answer: x > 1
