The price of gasoline is $1.30 per gallon plus federal tax of F cents and a state tax of S cents. How many gallons of gasoline can be purchased for $20?
LETS DEAL IN CENTS TO REDUCE CONFUSION:
So, the cost per gal is 130+F+S cents
Let x=number of gal that can be purchased for $20 OR 2000 cents

Cost per gal times number of gals must equal 2000 cents
(130+F+S)(x)=2000 (Note: the units work out to gal)
x=2000/(130+F+S) gal
