Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A major earthquake of magnitude 87.8 is 1400 times as intense as a minor earthquake, find the magnitude of the minor earthquake to 3 decimal places.
------------
Let "x" be the magnitude of the minor earthquake.
EQUATION:
87.8=1400x
x=87.8/1400
x=0.063 (This is the magnitude of the minor earthquake)
