What is x and y?
2. x+y=1
5x+y=-7
ans : given x+y=1 ----I
5x+y=1 ----II
now multiply eq. I by 5 and subtracted from II
Then 5*(x+y)-(5x+y)=5-1
4y=4
y = 1
substuting this in I we get
x+1=1
hence x = 0
ans is x=0 and y=1
