Question 415474: I am having trouble making the relationships of pii or 3.14..... for instance i know that piiR^2 (pie x radius squared) is how you find the area of a circle
I know also you can use pii x D^2 divided by 4 because r^2 = (D/2)^2 = (d^2)/4
recently i was given the formula for volume of a pipe .785 x diameter x length where .785 is pi/4 could you please explain how you simplify the formula to get .785 x diameter x length for volume of a pipe i understand .785 is 1/4 pii but i dont understand how you get from piiR^2 x length to .785 X dia. x length for the volume and ive worked both ways the only one close is .785 formula

-------
Volume = Area of a cross section *length
---
But Surface = Circumference * length
S = pi*D*L
------
0.785*diameter*length looks like a surface formula to me.
