Since the semi circles are on the edge of the square and each side of square is h
this implies that the diameter of the semi circle is equal to h
but the radius is r
=> 2r = h...........equation(1)
Now area of square with side h is h^2 ( length * breadth)

Area of circle is pi*r^2
so area of semi circle will be half of it = 1/2(pi*r^2)
Area of 2 semi circles will be => 2*1/2(pi*r^2)
=> pi*r^2
So total area will be
h^2 + pi*r^2
But from equation (1) r = h/2
substituting in the above equation value of r
=> h^2 + pi*(h/2)^2
=> h^2 + pi*h^2/4
=> (4h^2 + pi*h^2)/4
=> h^2(4+pi)/4

The area of the square is s*2
therefore h^2
The area o a circle is pi * r*2
they are semi circles, so 1/2 ( pi * r^2)
There are 2 semicircles, so 2 ( 1/2(pi * r^2)
The final formula to solve your problem will be:
h*2 + 2(1/2( pi * r^2))
