And again, I have to say that your triangle is NOT equilateral. If it were equilateral, then all three sides would measure 16 and the height would be
. But if the height is actually 12 as you say, the base must be
, so you have 2 equal sides and a third side that is a different measure so you have an isosceles triangle.
