Answer by checkley77(12844) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
LET X & X+2 BE THE 2 NUMBERS.
x^2+(x+2)^2=100
x^2+x^2+4x+4-100=0
2x^2+4x-96=0
2(x^2+2x-48)=0
2(x+8)(x-6)=0
x-6=0
x=6 answer for the smaller number.
6+2=8 for the larger number.
Proof:
6^2+8^2=100
36+64=100
100=100
