1. Write the equation in the form ax+by+c=0
A. Y=3x+1
3x - y + 1 = 0
===============
B. 5/8x-2
C. 11/2x+4
B & C are not equations.

2. Find the equation of the following lines in the form y=mx+c. Hence write down their gradient
A. 2x+3y+6=0
Solve for y.
y = (-2/3)x - 2
Gradient, or slope, is the coefficient of x, -2/3
------------------
B. 3/4x+1/8+3=0 **** No y term
Do these the same way.
C. 2x-2y+5=0
D. 2/5x-1/10y-2=0
E. 4x-2y+3=0
F. X+y-4=0
Answer by rothauserc(4718) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1.A 3x -y +1 = 0
1.B 5/8x - 0y -2 = 0
5x -0y -16 = 0
Note I multiplied both sides of = by 8
all others are in a similar manner
:
2.A 2x +3y +6 = 0
3y = -2x -6
Note I subtracted 3y and 6 from both sides of =
y = -2x/3 -2
Note I divided both sides of = by 3
all others are done in a similar manner
