First remove the parenthesis as follows...


-(2x+y) - 2(-x-y)


==> -2x - y + 2x + 2y

Now collect the like terms....


==> -2x + 2x - y + 2y


==> 0 + y = y, which is the simplified answer after collecting like terms.
