This is the same as

multiply each side by 6y

divide each side by 12

Test this in the original equation
(1/(2*(1/12)))�3?=2
(1/(1/6))/3?=2
multiply each side by 3
(1/(1/6))?=2*3
(1/(1/6))?=6
(1*(6/1))?=6
6=6
