Let your age be x
while your brother's age be y
From the second sentence, you are 5 years older than him. So the equation is:
x = y + 5. . . . . .(i)
From the third sentence, the sum of your ages becomes
x + y = 27. . . . . .(ii)
Solving simultaneously, using substitution.
x = 16, y = 11
.: you are 16yrs old
